Position Overview
The Student Engagement Coordinator builds meaningful pathways for UT students to connect with the Texas Exes and develop a lasting relationship with the organization. The coordinator advises student leaders, plans and delivers student-focused events and programs, supports student membership growth, collaborates on brand awareness efforts, and represents the Association in campus engagement and student success initiatives. The ideal candidate enjoys working directly with students, is a self-starter, and demonstrates strong leadership skills.
Major Job Functions
- Develop and implement detailed plans for Texas Exes Student membership events in collaboration with the Marketing, Events, and Membership teams.
- Execute student membership programs and events to acquire and retain members while increasing brand awareness among UT students.
- Track progress toward goals and report results.
- Manage the Texas Exes Student Ambassadors, a committee of student leaders who represent the Texas Exes, assist with student programs, and encourage student involvement.
- Serve as a primary Texas Exes student engagement liaison within the campus community, including student groups, faculty, and staff, and foster partnerships that support student success and engagement initiatives.
- Coordinate the student-led nomination and selection process for faculty and staff awards. Assist with administration of the class ring program and related events, respond to ring-related inquiries, and administer the ring award and scholarship program for current students.
- Plan and execute the annual Texas Fight Rally in collaboration with internal teams and campus partners, including Athletics, the Longhorn Band, and the Dean of Students Office. Recruit and oversee student organizations participating in the banner competition and parade.
- Assist in identifying and recruiting alumni to participate in student and alumni networking events and facilitate mentorship opportunities.
- Develop and manage business plans and budgets for student engagement and student membership programs.
- Assist with executing the Camp Texas program.
- Assist with promoting Student Membership and Camp Texas at campus recruitment events, orientations, and Chapter Send-Offs.
Essential Job Requirements
- A bachelor’s degree is required.
- Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to work effectively with alumni volunteers, professional peers, and students.
- Detail-oriented with the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
- Strong organizational and logistical event planning skills with attention to detail
- Strong written communication skills to compose, edit, and proof materials
- Strong verbal communication skills
- Strong computer skills, especially Microsoft Office, database manipulation, and web administration
- Demonstrated ability to work independently, stay organized, and manage multiple priorities.
- Ability to facilitate engaging presentations and discussions for small and large student groups.
- Ability to lead, coach, and support student leaders and committees effectively.
- Ability to work in and contribute to a team environment
- Ability to attend occasional evening and weekend events
- Ability to lift 25 lbs, load and transport via automobile and/or golf cart
- Valid Class C driver’s license and good driving record
Other Skills/Abilities/Success Factors
- 1–2 years of experience working directly with college students preferred.
- Excitement for creating and managing initiatives for UT students and student members of the Texas Exes
- Excitement for the mission and priorities of the Texas Exes
