Hi! I’m Paari Palani, a Canfield Business Honors major from Allen, Texas. In high school most of my time was split between my two biggest passions: investing and debate. With the help of my grandfather I opened a personal investment portfolio freshman year and spent countless hours researching and executing trades with securities, derivatives, and crypto. I was captain of my debate team and primarily competed in policy debate at tournaments in the national circuit. During my competitive season I was fortunate enough to win the UIL State tournament and be named top speaker at the Stanford Debate Tournament. In addition to competition I spent a lot of time fundraising and assisting in the development of curriculum for the underclassman on the debate team. For the past 4 years I’ve had a part time job at Subway, and this past summer I did contracted work for Dallas County's Health and Human Services Financial Administration in their Monitoring and Compliance team. I learned a lot from my colleagues and was able to produce some compliance training manuals. Outside of academics and work, I love spending time with friends, especially exploring new places and trying out new restaurants. I also love playing pickleball, and this past summer I’ve started to get really into golf.

What drew you to the Forty Acres Scholars Program?
After I came down to Austin for the finalist weekend I knew that this was a program that I wanted to be a part of. Not only were all the other finalists so friendly, but so were the current scholars. Getting to talk to them and hear all of their advice about how to make the most of my college experience made me realize that joining the program would allow me to make great friends and have amazing mentors.
