I have a strong passion for learning. I love the challenge of developing a skillset or a new way of thought. As a young student, I enjoyed almost every class I took. The subject did not matter so much as the act of exploring a new topic and expanding my own mind. Continuing through high school, however, I started to sift through my interests and hobbies in search of the topics I loved for more than just the cycle of learning and achievement--that inspired something more profound and helped me learn about myself as well. Luckily, I had the privilege of attending an all-girls school that empowered me to find my voice, which I then developed through research, writing, and several years of debate. I discovered a love for communication, both on paper and through connecting with others. These self-discoveries in combination with personal experience encouraged my interest in History and Spanish, which remain the subjects that most resonate with me today. With the time I have at UT, I plan to pursue these interests and discover where else my passion for learning leads me!

What drew you to the Forty Acres Scholars Program (FASP)?
The college process by nature is incredibly impersonal, which I always found frustrating. At Finalist Weekend however, I soon realized that this was not the case with the Forty Acres Scholars Program. After learning more, I could not believe the level of support and guidance it provides the scholars. The Forty Acres Scholars Program is more than a scholarship; it is a support system that guides each and every scholar on their unique journey to becoming a thoughtful and impactful member of society while simultaneously providing an amazing community of other scholars and incredible alumni. The caring nature of the program drew me in immediately, and on the ride home, I found myself hoping I might have the privilege of joining such an amazing group.
