From Cook 'Em Horns

Sand Dainties


1/2 cup (1 stick) butter 

1/2 cup (1 stick) margarine 

1/3 cup sugar 

2 teaspoons water 

2 teaspoons vanilla 

2 cups flour 

1/2 cup chopped walnuts or pecans 

Powdered sugar 


Cream butter and margarine to soften, then cream with sugar. Mix in water, vanilla, flour and nuts. Chill 3 or 4 hours.

Form dough into long rolls, 12 inch across. Cut into 3-inch lengths and shape to look like Longhorns! Bake on ungreased cookie sheet 15 minutes at 325°, do not brown cookies.

Remove from sheet, cool slightly and dip in powdered sugar.

Yield: 4 dozen.
