The Forty Acres Scholars Program inspires and nurtures visionary leaders and helps them use their talents to benefit society.

Our scholars demonstrate intellectual curiosity and a track record of outstanding academic success. Most importantly, they have passion and a desire to live out the core values of The University of Texas at Austin.

Students who have the best chance of being invited to the Forty Acres Scholars Program Finalists Weekend do the following:

  • Distinguish themselves in high school through leadership roles, extracurricular activities, and community service
  • Possess strong communication skills
  • Excel academically
  • Aspire to change the world

Financial

Funding provides for tuition, a living stipend, a book stipend, and enrichment activities including a community component, a global experience, and professional experiences.

Programming

Scholars receive a rich college experience that provides academic, leadership and cultural opportunities with an intimate cohort of fellow students.

Community.

Join a community that will be a lifelong support system. Scholar cohorts are made up of people with diverse backgrounds and interests. Over the years, this group forms a tight bond at retreats and events—leaving the Forty Acres with a shared experience that can never be recreated.

Connection.

As the only program of its kind administered by an alumni association, Forty Acres Scholars develop a unique connection with their alma mater. You will have a front-row seat to the history and traditions of the university and learn how critical it is to stay engaged and informed. Additionally, you will meet, mingle, and hear from alumni who are at the top of their game and regularly interact with leading faculty and staff of the university. During and after your time on campus, these Longhorns will serve as a powerful network and resource.

Discovery.

Discover the world—then make the change you want to see. A generous enrichment stipend sets this program apart. These funds support personal and professional development outside of the classroom and empower scholars to forge their own path. They can serve their community, study abroad, and gain real-world experience in their field of study.

Staff

The program is administered by the dedicated Texas Exes Scholarship team who facilitate programming, one-on-one meetings, and connections with alumni.
