Ring Week

How many completed credit hours do I need to order my ring? 

All undergraduates must have 75 completed hours toward their degree to be eligible to purchase a class ring. All graduate students must have 16 completed hours toward their degree to be eligible to purchase a class ring. All hours currently in progress will not be counted toward the total hour count.  

Do all my credit hours have to be UT credit hours? 

All hours that count toward your degree—whether earned at UT or transferred in—will count toward the 75 completed hours needed to order your ring. 

How long does it take to order a ring during Ring Week? 

On average, it can take about 15 to 30 minutes from start to finish to order your ring on-site during Ring Week. You are more than welcome to come one day and return later in the week to make your final purchase, or purchase from home.  

Can I still order my ring if I can’t make it to Ring Week? 

Yes, you do not have to be present at the event to order your ring. All rings can be ordered online here

What if I purchase a ring but can't pick it up at Ring Celebration or the Alumni Center? 

Current Students - If your order is placed by this semester's order deadline, your ring will be shipped to the Alumni Center and held for Ring Celebration. If you can't attend Ring Celebration you may pick up your ring the following Monday and Tuesday at the Alumni Center. Rings will be held at the Alumni Center for two weeks after Ring Celebration. After that date, any remaining rings will be shipped to the address you included on your order form.  

Alumni - Your rings will be shipped directly to you unless you request it be sent to the Alumni Center and held for Ring Celebration.

Are there payment plan options available? 

Yes, Balfour offers a three-month payment plan option for ring purchases. Please speak with a Balfour representative when ordering your ring to get set up with a payment plan. 

I listed my home address with my order. Does that mean my ring won’t be here for the Ring Celebration? 

All student rings will be shipped to the Texas Exes to be included in Tower Dedication and Ring Celebration. Have questions? Email us at: ClassRings@texasexes.org. Rings ordered by alumni are automatically shipped to their home address. Alumni can request to have their ring  shipped to the Alumni Center by emailing us at ClassRings@texasexes.org.   

I am a Texas Exes Four-year Student Life Member. How do I redeem my discount? 

To redeem your discount, enter your EID in the promo box when placing your order. If you have any issues, please contact ClassRings@texasexes.org.  

Can I trade in my current class ring (purchased through Balfour) for a different style? 

Yes. Balfour will charge a flat fee of $175.00 + S/H + TAX for a remake. Any additional costs based on the new design choice will also be invoiced. No refunds will be issued. 

I purchased from an outside jeweler; can I participate in Tower Dedication and Ring Celebration? 

Only official UT Class Rings that are numbered and tracked by the Texas Exes on behalf of the University are included in our class ring program, as well as Tower Dedication and Ring Celebration. Official UT Rings can be purchased during Ring Week on campus or online

Tower Dedication

What is Tower Dedication?  

Tower Dedication takes place the night prior to Ring Celebration. Recipients' rings spend the night in the UT Tower, which is lit in their honor.    

Is my ring included in Tower Dedication and Ring Celebration?  

Student orders placed by this semester’s order deadline will be included in Tower Dedication and will be available for pick up the next day at Ring Celebration. 

Alumni orders will automatically ship to the address recipients included on the order form unless alumni reach out to Texas Exes and request to have their ring included in this semester's Tower Dedication and Ring Celebration.

Is Tower Dedication in-person or virtual? 

There is not an event hosted during Tower Dedication, however students and families on campus are encouraged to watch the Tower lighting at sunset the eveining before Ring Celebration. Tag @TexasExes in your photos for a chance to be featured on our channels.  

What time is Tower Dedication? 

Tower Dedication occurs at sunset.

Ring Celebration

What is Ring Celebration?  

Ring Celebration is when the rings are presented to students and alumni!  

Is my ring included in Ring Celebration?  

Student orders placed by this semester’s order deadline will be included in Tower Dedication and will be available for pick up the next day at Ring Celebration. 

Alumni orders will automatically ship to the address recipients included on the order form unless alumni reach out to Texas Exes and request to have their ring included in this semester's Tower Dedication and Ring Celebration.

What do I need to bring to Ring Celebration?  

A valid photo ID (university student ID or driver’s license) will be required to pick up your class ring. Ring recipients do not need to bring any additional materials with them.   

Where do I pick up my ring at Ring Celebration?  

Ring Celebration will be held on the Main Mall in front of the Tower. Pickup tables will be in alphabetical order by recipient last name.  

What should I wear to Ring Celebration?  

Come photo ready! Business casual attire is encouraged.  

How many guests can I bring to Ring Celebration?  

Recipients are encouraged to bring guests; however guests do not need to RSVP. There is no limit on the number of guests recipients are allowed to bring.  

Where should I park? 

Pre-purchase parking at the San Antonio Garage now!

Is there seating available at Ring Celebration?  

For guests requiring accommodations, a small section of reserved seating will be available at the Main Mall. Seating is first come, first served.  

What happens if it rains?  

In the case of inclement weather, Ring Celebration will be moved to the Alumni Center. Ring recipients will be notified via email if Ring Celebration is moved.  

How do I pick up my ring if I can’t attend Ring Celebration?  

Balfour representatives will be at the Alumni Center the Monday and Tuesday after Ring Celebration from 11 a.m.–2 p.m. to assist with ring pickup and help answer questions. 
After Tuesday, any remaining rings can be picked up from the reception desk at the Alumni Center. Rings will be held at the Alumni Center until end of day Friday, May 10. After that date, any remaining rings will be shipped to the address you included on your order form.   
A valid photo ID is required to pick up your ring.

I’m a former ring recipient or an alumnus that would like to participate in Ring Celebration. How do I do that?  

We would love to have former ring recipients and alumnus with official UT class rings participate in Ring Celebration. For our Spring 2024 Ring Celebration, official UT class rings can be dropped off at the Alumni Center during the following times:

10-11 a.m., Wednesday, April 17
1-2 p.m., Thursday, April 18

Please note: All rings dropped off by former recipients must be picked up at Ring Celebration. Former ring recipients do not need to RSVP for the event.
