About the Texas Chili Cook-Off

The Texas Chili Cook-Off, now in its 31st year, is an annual event hosted by the NYC Chapter.  All proceeds from the event benefit our scholarship fund which provides financial aid to students from New York who attend The University of Texas at Austin. The current cost of out of state admission is over $41,000 and this year alone we are able to give out $25,000 to freshmen from New York heading to Austin, Texas thanks to the generosity of our alumni and partners. But with more NY based students than ever wanting to go to UT and college costs going up constantly, it is of the utmost importance that we work to raise more money for our scholarship and chapter.  

The Texas Chili Cook-Off attracts 1,000+ chili enthusiasts whose entry fee guarantees them a 5 hour all-you-can-drink and all-you-can-eat event. Attendees will sample chili from 15+ professional restaurant teams and nearly 25 amateur teams competing for the chili championship. Past restaurant teams have included Hill Country BBQ, Javelina, King David Tacos and Stout NYC and prior sponsors have included Shiner Beers, Titos Vodka, Whole Foods, Orange Theory, and many other great New York and Austin based companies. 

This year’s chili cook off will be hosted by celebrity chef Emily Hersh, recently featured on Hell’s Kitchen with Gordon Ramsey.
