A Texas Tradition
The story of Life Membership starts in 1957, when Joe C. “Jodie” Thompson, BBA ’62, became Lucky Life Member No. 1. Sixty-seven years later, we are still going strong—thanks to the fierce support of our most loyal members.
Pride. Tradition. Generosity.
Life Member funds are put to good use from day one. The Life Member Endowment Fund makes up 23% of our annual operating budget and powers many of our programs and advocacy efforts. As an independent, nonprofit organization, the fund distribution is essential to power our mission to promote and protect the University.
Ninety percent of Life Member dues are placed into a permanent endowment fund that powers everything from student scholarships and Camp Texas to community engagement and advocacy for UT.
In other words, Life Membership provides for Longhorns in perpetuity.
