Ever since I was a kid, I have been passionate about building things. From experimenting with Legos and simple circuits to developing full-scale websites and applications in high school, I’ve always been drawn to solving problems through creativity and technology. It is this curiosity that has grown into my love for computer science, where I see so many opportunities to design tools that can help to enhance lives.
Today, the world faces immense challenges. There are millions suffering from illness, disability, and lack of access to resources that could change their lives. My goal is to tackle these challenges directly. Currently in the tech world, individuals and companies are racing to create the next big thing: a faster phone, a better camera, a brighter screen. Their focus is to drive sales and create luxury items for profit. I am driven by a different vision. I want to use technologies with the advancements in things like artificial intelligence and machine learning to create solutions that make a difference for people in need. I want to work directly to provide technology solutions to problems faced around the world and to help make a difference in people’s lives.
There is no place that values this sense of helping people more than UT. At UT, as a Forty Acres Scholar, I look forward to diving deep into how I can help make a difference, one step at a time. I look forward to conducting research, joining student organizations for advocacy, and working alongside peers who share this same passion for service. I am excited to embrace the core principles of UT and to work to bring change to my community and, one day, the world!
