Dear Class of 2020. On March 13, UT Austin President Gregory L. Fenves made the call: as of March 30, all classes would move online. Students were not permitted to return to campus.

A version of this article appeared in the May/June 2020 issue of the Alcalde

OVID-19 had made its way to Austin and the best course of action was to keep campus clear. Universities across Texas, including those within the UT System, made the difficult decision to postpone graduation commencements in May.

Since the announcement, our thoughts have been with this next group of Longhorn leaders and world-changers. From the veteran who waited years to finally earn his diploma to the first-generation college student who was ready to be the first in her family to walk across the stage, students from the Class of 2020 have made incredible accomplishments.

To show them that the Longhorn community will be with them every step of the way as they start their post-UT journeys, with a future more uncertain than ever, we asked alumni from all over the world to share wisdom, advice, and encouragement for the Class of 2020.
