Daniel Vassiliev

I am Daniel Vassiliev from Houston, Texas, and the recipient of the Fred A. Gottesman Forty Acres Scholarship. While attending Clear Lake High School, I served as National Honor Society and DECA President, was a varsity basketball and tennis player, and served as STEM Siblings President, leading high school mentors in delivering hands-on STEM programs across the district. My awards and recognitions include International DECA finalist, First in District and Third in Houston Science Fair (Aerospace Engineering), National Merit Commended Scholar, and AP Scholar with Distinction. I have also advocated for NASA in D.C. with Citizens for Space Exploration, competed in FIRST Robotics and mentored VEX students to Worlds, interned at UT’s Center for Space Research, co-own Next Level Entertainment, a photo booth business, and am fluent in Russian. This past summer I interned at Amegy Bank where I shadowed bankers in various sectors while also building an AI-assisted framework to streamline covenant reviews. I plan to major in Electrical & Computer Engineering and Business Honors, while also exploring finance.

What drew you to the Forty Acres Scholars Program?
What drew me to the Forty Acres Scholars Program was its combination of ambitious, like-minded, and especially kind people. I was inspired by a community that is made up of completely different perspectives and majors from mine, yet driven by the common goal of exploring and making an impact in our world.
