Fado Irish Pub - Mary Brickell Village

Texas faces No. 22 ranked USC this week at DKR in Austin. USC is coming off a tough road loss to Stanford, while Texas is coming off a narrow victory over the Tulsa Golden Hurricanes.

This is the shot at redemption for Sam Ehlinger and the Longhorns after last year's tough 27-24 overtime defeat. Texas has an experienced defense coming up against the Trojans' true freshman QB.

Join us at 8:00pm at Fado this Saturday, September 15th, at 8pm and help cheer our Horns to victory.

Please RSVP here or on Facebook and invite your friends!

UT v. TCU Game Watch - W, 31-16

Saturday, September 22, 2018, 4:30 pM

Fado Irish Pub - Mary Brickell Village
900 S. Miami Ave., Miami, FL 33130

Sweet, sweet redemption.  After a tough loss last year in double overtime, the Longhorns showed up in a big way against No. 22 ranked USC at DKR and notched the 900th win in program history in front of a record, sellout crowd of 103,507.

The work is not yet done, though.

This week, the Longhorns open Big 12 play as host to the TCU Horned Frogs at DKR in Austin. TCU suffered a tough loss at home against a Urban-Meyer-less Ohio State, dropping two spots in the rankings to No. 17, but 2-1 Texas will have to capitalize on the lessons learned in the first three games and, as Coach Herman says, “keep building, keep building.”  TCU is a formidable opponent and Texas will need to put in the work this week to put another check in the W column.

Join us at Fado at 4:30 on Saturday, September 22nd to watch this critical match-up.

UT v. Kansas State Game Watch
Saturday, September 29, 2018, 3:30 PM

Fado Irish Pub - Mary Brickell Village
900 S. Miami Ave., Miami, FL 33130

Finishing. That’s what Tom Herman has preached about since the off-season. Finishing drives. Finishing games. This past Saturday, our Longhorns did just that.  More importantly, they did so against No. 17 ranked TCU – a team Texas hasn’t beat since 2013. It’s a win that has put Texas back in the top 25 for the first time since pre-season.

But again, it’s about finishing. Each drive. Each game.

Next up is Kansas State. After a hard loss to West Virginia, the Wildcats will be looking for redemption as they host the Longhorns in Manhattan this Saturday.  It’s the first road-game for the Longhorns in almost a month and the first road-game in Big 12 play.  What’s more, Bill Snyder Family Football Stadium is notoriously rough on the longhorns – the last time Texas won in Manhattan, true freshman safety (and BIG 12 Newcomer of the Week) Caden Sterns was 2-years-old.

“The last [game] doesn’t matter; the next one doesn’t matter. The only one that matters is this one.”  -TH

Join us Saturday, September 29 at Fado to watch as the Longhorns attempt to make history in Manhattan.  Kickoff is at 3:30pm.

Please RSVP here or on Facebook and let us know you're coming!

October

Tx v. OU Game Watch

Saturday, October 6, 2018, 12:00 PM

Fado Irish Pub - Mary Brickell Village
900 S. Miami Ave., Miami, FL 33130

Well, history was made on Saturday – the Longhorns beat the Wildcats in Manhattan for the first time in 16 years! It may not have been pretty, but, thankfully, “ugly” Ws count just the same. \m/

This weekend, Texas faces OU in the annual Red River Showdown at the Cotton Bowl in Dallas. Per usual, corny dogs and fried, well, everything, are on the menu. OU is currently undefeated and coming off a 66-33 win over Baylor. For the first time in six years, both Texas and OU are ranked heading into the contest – and ESPN’s Gollege GameDay will be on site for the first time since 2011.

I have just one question: What time is it?!?

Texas will need to play their best at all times to stay competitive against OU. Make sure to come early, be loud, stay late and wear orange to cheer on our Longhorns at the official Game Watch on Saturday at Fado.

Please RSVP here or on Facebook and invite your friends!

October

UT v. Baylor Game Watch

Saturday, October 13, 2018, TBA

Fado Irish Pub - Mary Brickell Village
900 S. Miami Ave., Miami, FL 33130

Never have sweeter words to Longhorn ears been uttered by Gus Johnson, “It’s all on the shoulders of a freshman.  Cameron Dicker. From 40 yards away. For the University of Texas and Red River immortality.....EARTHQUAKE. He hit it. Dicker the Kicker, 48-45 Texas.”  It was Gus’s call of the game

And with that, Texas moved to #9 in the AP poll, 3-0 in Big XII play, 3-0 against ranked opponents, and destroyed OU’s hope for an undefeated season.  Sam Ehlinger & Cameron Dicker were named Big XII players of the week and  Lil’Jordan Humphrey was named to the Paul Hornung Award Honor Roll.  All told, it was a good weekend for the Longhorn faithful – even The Eyes of Texas sounds better after a win against OU.

But there’s still a lot of season left.  A lot.  “This game will not define us; how we respond to it will.” -TH

This week, the Longhorns return to Austin where they will host the Baylor Bears.  Last Saturday, an unranked Baylor team, led by standout QB Charlie Brewer, handed K-State a 37-34 loss and improved to 4-2 on the season.  While Baylor remains unranked in the polls, and Texas started the week as a 16-point favorite, the Bears are #16 in the nation in total offense, and the Longhorn defenders will have their work cut out for them as they to contain the Bears.  Having that new home field advantage at DKR that everyone is talking about, certainly can’t hurt…
