How to Apply for Texas Exes Scholarships, including local scholarships

  • Students must complete the Texas Exes online scholarship application to be considered for scholarships administered by the Texas Exes, including the Austin County Texas Exes Scholarships. This is a separate from the ApplyTexas admission/scholarship application process.
  • Completing the ApplyTexas application does not automatically qualify a student to be considered for Texas Exes scholarships.

When to Apply for local Texas Exes Scholarships

Applicants in their senior year of high school can apply for Texas Exes scholarships using the Texas Exes online scholarship application. The application will be available in early September. The deadline to apply is December 1. Applicants can apply even if they have not yet been admitted to The University of Texas at Austin.

What happens with your Texas Exes Scholarship Application?

Students who have completed the Texas Exes Scholarship Application will automatically be considered for the Chapter and Named Scholarships (with the exception of the Forty Acres Scholarships) for which they qualify—no further action is needed.

The Austin County Scholarship Committee meets in the spring of each year to review applications forwarded to us from the Texas Exes organization, for students who live in Austin County and will be entering UT Austin in the summer or fall.

A representative of our local chapter attends the Austin County High Schools’ Scholarship Award programs each spring to announce the scholarships awarded by the Austin County Texas Exes. In September, our local scholarships are awarded to our selected recipients at a banquet in the Alumni Center in Austin.

What about the Forty Acres Scholarship?

The Forty Acres Scholarship application is a separate process. In order to apply for the Forty Acres Scholars Program, applicants must click the “Apply” button and complete an additional essay.
