Position Overview

The Human Resources Director establishes best practices and policies that will foster an employee-oriented, high performance culture. The HR Director directs and carries out policies, processes and procedures relating to full life-cycle human resources. Major areas are:

  • Recruiting and staffing;
  • Employee orientation and onboarding;
  • Organizational planning; · performance management and improvement systems;
  • Employment and compliance to regulatory concerns; · policy development and documentation;
  • Employee relations; · company employee communication;
  • Compensation and benefits administration;
  • Employee safety in conjunction with Facilities.

Major Job Functions

  • Works with Executive Office to develop an HR Strategy to ensure that the Texas Exes is resourced to deliver on its strategic objectives; ensure that all aspects of HR promote an organizational culture of teamwork, high quality, transparency, accountability, and inclusiveness
  • Leads and advises on best practices for organization wide change and transformation
  • Coordinates and administers the recruitment, hiring, and termination processes (e.g. advertising vacancies, screening applicants, conducting interviews, making recommendations for hire, new employee orientation, etc.) for the purpose of maintaining a highly qualified staff.
  • Consults and advises management on a wide variety of sensitive personnel issues (e.g. discipline, hiring, promotions, etc.) for the purpose of assisting in effective decision making and enforcing all relevant policies, procedures and regulations.
  • Guides management and employee actions by researching, developing, writing, and updating policies, procedures, methods, and guidelines; communicating and enforcing organization values.
  • Complies with federal, state, and local legal requirements by studying existing and new legislation; anticipating legislation; enforcing adherence to requirements; advising management on needed actions. Prepares information required for compliance with laws.
  • Investigates grievances and/or complaints from employees for the purpose of reaching resolutions that provide a healthy work environment.
  • Maintains manual and electronic documents, files and records for the purpose of providing accurate information in compliance with regulatory requirements and established guidelines.
  • Manages organization’s use of insurance brokers, insurance carriers, retirement plan administrators, and other outside sources
  • Obtains, administers, and explains to staff cost effective employee benefits
  • Develops and monitors an annual budget that includes payroll, human resources services, professional development, and administration.
  • Develops and administers various surveys including employee engagement and Executive Director surveys
  • Determines and executes annual compensation changes in collaboration with Executive Office
  • Prepares periodic reports for management to track HR metrics (e.g. salary forecasting, turnover rate, etc.).
  • Manages PR/HR Coordinator and Receptionist

Essential Job Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources or related field
  • PHR/SPHR certification preferred
  • Ten plus years HR experience
  • Computer literacy with payroll, Microsoft Office; accounting software and Salesforce experience preferred
  • Strong communication skills including listening, verbal, and written
  • Strong interpersonal and coaching skills.
  • Detail-oriented and accurate
  • Broad knowledge/experience in employment law, compensation, benefits, employee relations
  • Strong problem-solving skills
  • Ability to maintain a high level of confidentiality
  • Pass criminal history background check
  • Ability to attend occasional evening and weekend events
