Position Overview 

The Manager of Business Development is responsible for managing the development and growth of the Longhorn Business Network and Longhorn 100. 

Responsibilities include identifying and securing Longhorn-run businesses as members of the Longhorn Business Network, a newly launched membership program of the Texas Exes, and refining the value proposition for the Longhorn Business Network suite of products and services. Additionally, the role will serve as the primary individual responsible for conceiving, implementing, and growing the Longhorn 100, an annual event celebrating the fastest growing Longhorn businesses.  

The ideal candidate will possess a business background in sales, business development, and relationship management with proven ability to think strategically, creatively and embrace the role as our lead Intrapreneur. The individual will need to think analytically about business challenges, develop compelling value propositions, implement creative solutions to meet organizational objectives, and manage relationships that yield revenue bookings. 

Major Job Functions 

  • Develop a revenue growth strategy that will result in sustainable revenue growth from the Longhorn Business Network memberships 
  • Demonstrate strong relationship management skills that will be key to building the necessary relationships with leaders/c-suite of alumni-owned businesses 
  • Work with Texas Exes teams to define, design and launch Longhorn 100 program  
  • Develop performance goals and metrics to measure the outcomes of the new business  
  • Collaborate with the Marketing, Communications and Engagement teams to launch fee-based business services for LBN members  
  • Collaborate with Executive Director and Leadership team to launch and manage Longhorn 100

Required Experience and Education 

  • Bachelor’s degree with emphasis in marketing and management 
  • 3- 5 years of combined work experience in sales, relationship management 
  • Proven track record in carrying and achieving a sales quota 
  • Sales management 
  • Computer proficiency with Microsoft Office products 
  • Ability to attend evening and weekend events.
