It Wouldn’t Be Texas Without the Exes

It was alumni volunteers who founded the Texas Exes in 1885, and it is volunteers who keep the organization running today. Whether you want to mentor current UT students, volunteer for one of our committees, advocate on UT’s behalf, or simply attend a chapter event in your area, our hope is that you stay involved with the University through the Texas Exes. Involvement comes in many forms, and we offer opportunities to fit any stage of your life, no matter where you live.

Alumni College

Alumni Involvement with Students

Mentor a UT student considering a career in your profession, host a group of students at your home for an informal discussion, or help a student discover what kind of Longhorn he/she will be.

Black Alumni Network

Connects black alumni, the Texas Exes and the black community on-campus for the purpose of recruiting and retaining African-American students.

Career Network

Connect alumni and current students of The University of Texas at Austin for the purposes of sharing career related information.

Chapter Leadership Committee

Plans and implements growth and development of local Texas Exes chapters in accordance with The Association’s mission.

Finance Committee

Oversees The Association’s overall financial status and strategy.

Hispanic Alumni Network

Connect Hispanic alumni, the Texas Exes and the Hispanic community on-campus.

Host Committee

Serves as hospitality at major on-campus Association events to promote the Texas Exes and make visitors feel welcome and at home.

International Alumni & Students

Keep alumni connected outside the U.S., welcome travelers, and encourage students to consider UT.

Investments Committee

Establishes overall objectives and formulates the investment policy for the Association. Volunteer must have specific investment expertise.

Legislative Advocacy

This grassroots legislative network of alumni and friends work to increase public and legislative support for UT.

Marketing Committee

Helps develop marketing strategies for membership acquisition and member service.

Public Affairs Committee

Develops and implements strategies to educate the public, particularly Association members, about the importance and needs of higher education.

Scholarship Committee

Recruits, selects, and/or approves recipients of all Association scholarships including Texas Exes Chapter awards.

Technology Committee

Consults on ways to improve and enhance internal and external technology systems for the Association.

Travel Forum

Former Flying Longhorns give feedback on and help promote The Association's comprehensive program of travel for continuing education. Members MUST be past travelers with the Flying Longhorn program.

UT Heritage Society

Collects, preserves and promotes the heritage of our University.

Young Alumni Network

Generates ideas and initiatives to increase involvement and develop new leaders among recent graduates and young alumni.

Publis Relations Committee

Help advance awareness of the Texas Exes in all aspects including, but not limited to, events, scholarships, Texas Exes chapters, and university-related projects.
