We've never been ones to back down from a challenge

The Texas Exes have a rich tradition of supporting undergraduate and graduate students at The University of Texas. From the first scholarship awarded in 1899, we've worked to ensure the best and the brightest could thrive at the University. Now, 125 years later, we annually give more than 700 scholarships and encourage student leadership through the Texas Exes Student Chapter, Camp Texas, student leadership awards, and other student initiatives.

But this challenge is Texas-sized big

Today, staggering living costs, increased tuition rates, and global competition have created a new set of challenges. Simply put, exceptional students are presented with opportunities that they cannot fund. As a result, the best and the brightest students are unable to pursue exceptional opportunities to grow academically and individually.

Together we can be the difference

A new initiative – the Student Opportunity Endowment – is an investment in students who, shaped by their University experience, seek to grow academically and individually. Undergraduate and graduate students who are interested in studying abroad, presenting papers and research at conferences, working as unpaid interns, participating in national competitions, and engaging in academic, volunteer or community service communities will now have a resource for continuing their growth and momentum.

And leave a mark

As a lasting legacy of the Texas Exes' 125th anniversary in 2010, we begin the arduous task of creating a $1.25 million endowment to enhance the student experience. Each member is asked to give a $125 one-time contribution and be a part of this fund that will impact University students for generations to come.

All endowment gifts will be recognized in The Alcalde magazine.
