The mission of the Texas Exes UT Heritage Society is to collect, preserve and promote the rich heritage of The University of Texas.

Founded by the Texas Exes in 2002, this unique group is open to anyone - alumni, students, faculty staff and friends - with an interest in the history and traditions of the University of Texas. Among the first of its kind on any college campus, the Society is dedicated not only to collecting and preserving UT’s heritage, but to connecting all of us to the past, present and future of the University, as well as to each other. Above all, the UT Heritage Society should be exciting, rewarding, and lots of fun!

Among Our goals:

• To build a community of alumni, students, faculty, staff and friends who share an interest in University history and traditions.
• To facilitate the collection of oral and written reminiscences for preservation in the University Archives.
• To educate the University about its heritage through exhibits, lectures and written materials.
• To create or reinstate University traditions that will build a greater sense of campus community.
• To promote pride in The University of Texas.

After the inaugural meeting in the fall of 2002, Heritage Society members organized a year-long celebration of the centennial of “The Eyes of Texas,” sponsored historical displays on the campus, conducted oral interviews with UT alumni, delivered lectures on University history, and discovered forgotten artifacts from UT’s past.
