Texas Exes Young Alumni/St Ed's Soccer Club Youth Soccer Clinic

On Saturday, February 16th, the The Texas Exes Young Alumni Group will be partnering with the St. Edwards Soccer Team to provide a free soccer clinic for the East Austin Soccer Club. This fun event will be a great way to get involved in the local community by helping the youth attendees from the EASC get ready for the 2008 season. Volunteers are needed--no soccer skills required--so please email Kristy Kimball by February 6th to sign up.

  • What: Texas Exes Young Alumni/St. Ed's Soccer Club Youth Soccer Clinic
  • When: Saturday, February 16th, 9 - Noon
  • Where: The East Austin Soccer Club fields at 1148 Tillery Street
    (Tillery is located off 11th street going east toward Airport Blvd. If you decide to come down 11th street remember it changes into Oak Springs. The fields are behind the Oaks Springs Library.)
  • Description: A free soccer clinic for the East Austin Soccer Club. The clinic will feature several drill stations (working on ball work, dribbling, passing & control, shooting, heading and other skills), coaches and players from the St. Ed's soccer team, scrimmages and other fun activities.

*The Texas Exes Young Alumni will also be collecting gently used soccer equipment to donate to the East Austin Soccer Club. Please bring gently used cleats, shin guards, soccer balls, cones or anything soccer-related that you would like to donate by the Alumni Center before February 15th.

Right On Readers: Reading Buddy Program (Ongoing volunteer activity)

  • Description: The Reading Buddy program matches volunteers with young students in Grades 1—4. The program is designed to help students improve their reading skills and to learn to love reading.
    The goal is to help develop positive attitudes about reading and to promote reading as a fun activity. Buddies (volunteer and student) will meet for one hour once a week to share books, games and to learn about the library. The program will be offered from Sept. to Nov. on Tuesday, Thursday or Friday afternoons starting at 3:30 pm at the Cepeda Branch Library. Please call 974-7368 for more information.
