2005 Report A Hole in One! A clear, breezy and chilly morning greeted Texas Exes golfers as they arrived for the second annual Texas Exes Golf Championship on October 24, 2005. With an early 9am shotgun start, 52 two-person teams participated in a best-ball tournament with awards for low gross and net scores. Proceeds from the championship would benefit the UT Heritage Society. When the scores were posted, the team of Sam Dalton and Peter McKenzie won the low gross division, while Jim Allred and Erick McDonald headed up the low net score division. The names of the winning teams were inscribed on the "Tower Trophy" on permanent display in the Alumni Center. The talk of the day, though, was of Greg Shrader's hole-in-one. Greg won a two-year membership with the Elite Boat Club for his golfing prowess. As with the tournament's first year, an active committee of Texas Exes golf enthusiasts, chaired by Carter Breed, was crucial to the success of the event. |
