About the Event

A National Qualifier:

The Texas Exes Golf Championship will be the qualifier for the Acura College Alumni Team Championship, to be held at the Pinehurst Resort in North Carolina on October 27-30, 2011. The winners of the gross and net score divisions from the Championship Flight will create a four-person team to compete in the national championship. Lodging and meals at the Pinehurst Resort and all tournament activities are included, but players are responsible for their transportation to North Carolina. Before registering for the Texas Exes Golf Championship, check to see if you will be able to attend the Championship tournament in North Carolina if your team wins. Texas Exes Golf Championship Summary

Now in its eighth year, the Texas Exes Golf Championship is intended to be an enjoyable, competitive tournament for golfers who are members of the Association, as well as a fundraiser for the UT Heritage Society. Sponsored by the Texas Exes, the Heritage Society is dedicated to collecting, preserving and promoting the history and traditions of the University of Texas.

The tournament is a single day competition for UT alumni to form two-person teams and showcase their golfing talents. In addition to qualifying to play in the Acura College Alumni Championship, the teams with the best gross and net scores from the competitive Championship Flight will have their team members’ names inscribed on the “Texas Tower Trophy” that is permanently showcased in the Etter-Harbin Alumni Center.

Format - Two Flights - Championship & Heritage

Championship Flight - Play to Win
Two person shamble (select drive). 70% of your handicap with a limit of one stroke per hole. Handicaps must be verified. Players will be given a 0 handicap if his/her handicap indexes are not verified by the August 29 deadline. Winning gross and net teams of this flight will qualify for the Acura College Alumni Championship at Pinehurst, North Carolina, October 27-30, 2011.

Heritage Flight - Play for Fun
Two person shamble (select drive) Best-Ball. Bogey max for each player.

Tie Breakers: Ties in the Net Division will be broken by a scorecard playoff using the net scores. Ties in the Gross Division for the "overall champion" will be broken by a sudden death playoff beginning on the first hole, if time permits. If time does not permit, then a scorecard playoff will determine the Gross Champions.

Entry into the 2011 Texas Exes Golf Championship includes:

A day of golf at the exclusive University of Texas Golf Club

Registration Fee

$200 per person for Texas Exes Life Members.
$250 per person for Texas Exes Annual or Associate Life Members

What’s the difference between a Texas Exes Life Member and an Associate Life Member?
An Associate Life Member is paying their Texas Exes Life Membership in installments, while a Life Member has fully paid for their membership.
