International Exes All Our Exes Aren’t From Texas Did you know there are currently 4,711 UT students from 116 countries? And, over 11,500 alumni live in 148 countries throughout the world! With numbers like that, it is no wonder we have alumni living in a city near you! Our Texas Exes International Chapters & Networks give Longhorns hailing from and living in places all over the world a way to stay connected to UT, and to each other. International Exes include graduates who came to UT from somewhere outside of the United States, even if they are currently living in the U.S. It also includes U.S. nationals who are living abroad, and those international students who studied at UT for just a semester. By joining the Texas Exes, your benefits include (but are not limited to) online subscription to the award-winning ALCALDE, and online tools such as the Member Directory, Going Global, a new online international job search directory, and InCircle networking. Many countries and cities around the world have Texas Exes networks whose Members get together to watch games, socialize, and reminisce about time spent on the 40 Acres. There are also opportunities to visit wtih the Flying Longhorns, the association’s group travel program. With numerous international trips a year, the International Office is busy trying to connect these travelers to you when they visit your country/city. Check out the International Contacts page and send an e-mail to the network in your area. If there’s not one, maybe you should be the one to start it off! Since 1989, International Exes hold one place on the Board of Directors and one place on the Council, the Association’s 200-member advisory body. The current International representative on the Board is Carlos Montemayor of Mexico City, Mexico and the international representative on the Council is Anna Marie Mattson of Paris, France. Both terms expire June 30, 2007. These representatives serve a one-year term and are appointed by the International Alumni Program. Join Texas Exes now and get connected with other Longhorns in your area! Remember, many countries and cities have networks or representatives in place; so check out the International Contacts and send an e-mail. Get Involved! If you are interested in serving as a representative, please complete the Opportunities for Involvement survey so we can get you connected! Visit UT’s International Office and see what’s new on campus for international students. If you have any questions about International Exes or suggestions that could make the program better, please contact Leticia G. Acosta, Director of International Alumni Relations. |
