Career Assessments

At a Fork in the Road? Which Path Do You Take?
The Texas Exes offer a variety of career assessment tools to help members find their career direction. These tools are offered at a minimal cost and include interpretation of results and application to career planning. The following instruments identify personal work style, interests, personality preferences, ideal work environments, and compatible career choices.

  • The Myers-Briggs Type Indicator (online) - $40.00
  • The Strong Interest Inventory (online) - $40.00
  • Interpretation of MBTI & Strong Reports - Free

The Myers-Briggs Type Indicator (MBTI)
This assessment provides useful insights into your personality and ideal work style. It can help you answer questions such as: Where do you focus your attention and gain your strength? What basis do you use for decision-making? The MBTI identifies preferences that form a "personality type," describing a unique style for work, learning, communications, relationships, problem solving, and career satisfaction.

The Strong Interest Inventory
This career theme assessment compares your interest patterns to the patterns of satisfied professionals in 200+ occupations. Taking the Strong Interest Inventory can identify underlying patterns and reveal new career options.

When these two assessments are taken together, they can provide a “three-dimensional image” of an individual and a list of his or her most satisfying career possibilities. Many times, the MBTI and Strong Combined Career Report offers clarification about existing careers or validates a career path you’ve already been considering. This can provide the confidence and motivation for you to make a change or continue on an existing career path that is both comfortable and appropriate. An $80 fee for the package includes taking the online assessments, an MBTI report, a Strong report, a Combined Career Report, additional handouts, and interpretation of results through a one-on-one consultation.

To purchase any of these assessment tools with a credit card, please call Career Services at (512) 232-1847. Or checks may be made out to “Texas Exes” (with MBTI, Strong, or MBTI/Strong noted at the bottom) and mailed to: Career Services, The Texas Exes, PO Box 7278, Austin, TX 78713-7278. Once payment is received, directions will be given for taking the assessments online. Follow-up interpretation of results is scheduled at the time of payment.
