You’ve earned a degree from the best university in the world, but that doesn’t mean much if your career isn’t satisfying. Career Services can help you with your career path by offering resume and job search strategies and by providing personal assessments and networking leads. Following are the steps you need to take in utilizing Career Services...

STEP 1: Careers Over Coffee - introductory career & job search session in-person This once-a-week informal group session gives Members a chance to tell their story and learn more about helpful career resources. It’s also a perfect time for Exes to network with other Exes searching for jobs or new career paths. Sessions meet most Tuesdays at 12:00 noon at the Alumni Center. See a map here. STEP 1: Careers in Conference - an introductory career & job search session via conference call This once-a-week conference call gives Members a chance to find out about helpful career resources and ask questions about the job search. It’s also a perfect time for Exes to share tips with other Exes searching for jobs or new career paths. Sessions occur bi-monthly via phone; check the Events Calendar to register online. If you live in the Austin area and cannot fit Careers over Coffee into your schedule, then consider participating in this conference call so you can jumpstart your job search today!

At Any Time: Utilize our Virtual Career Center Familiarize yourself with all that we have to offer in our Virtual Career Center, including Hire 'Em Horns (register & post your resume), identify alumni career contacts in the Texas Exes Career Network, LinkedIn, and Facebook, and peruse job postings on HireTexas/AccessUT, Hire 'Em Horns, Going Global, and Experience.

STEP 2: Individual Career Consultations
These one-on-one appointments, either in person or by phone, can help you evaluate your career focus and direction. Your consultant will provide resume critiques, job searching resources, networking opportunities, interview and negotiating information, and help with lifelong career choices. One free appointment - in person or via phone - is available per year as a benefit to Texas Exes members. No Walk-ins...Make a reservation 1-2 weeks in advance by emailing Melissa in Career Services and stating that you want to schedule an individual consultation and when you participated in Careers over Coffee or Careers in Conference.

STEP 3: Career Coaching
For members seeking additional career assistance, Career Coaching is available for a fee. Coaching assists individuals through the career or job search process by developing a strategy, building action plans, staying focused, and tracking progress and goals. Coaching can be conducted by phone, so it is available no matter where you live. Email Melissa in Career Services at least 2 weeks in advance by stating a) when you participated in Careers over Coffee or Careers in Conference, b) why you want to do coaching, and c) your preferred phone and time for us to contact you for payment and scheduling.

• Life Members - $25 per session or $80 for 4-session package
• Annual Members - $50 per session or $180 for 4-session package

Scheduling
To take advantage of these great services, you have to be a current Texas Exes Member. Join now! If you would like to get started with Career Services, please register for EITHER Careers over Coffee or Careers in Conference on our Calendar of Events page. If you have already participated, you may register for a teleclass or make a consultation by emailing Career Services at least 1-2 weeks in advance. Include your membership status (Annual, Associate Life), or Life Member #, indicate phone or in-person consultation, and specifics of what you would like to cover during your 1-hour consultation.

**Due to the down economy and layoffs, we are currently experiencing an increased number of requests. Please allow several days for a return email/confirmation due to the fact that Career Services is staffed by 1 full-time director and 1 part-time administrator. Also, we cannot accommodate walk-ins.
