Testimonials
"Camp Texas was an unbelievable way to start off my freshman year. I learned new
cheers. I was blobbed twice. I played Werewolves all night. I met my future
professors. I broke my own boundaries. I made great friends. I found role models
in my counselors. I felt like UT had already become my home for the next four
years before I even stepped on campus. Camp Texas was the highlight of my summer
and the start to a great college experience." -- Sara Saastamoinen / Camp
Texas Camper 2010, 2011
"Camp Texas is a wonderful opportunity to learn more about yourself, meet
interesting new people, gain a new perspective, and GET BLOBBED!” -- Camp Texas
Camper 2010
"Coming to UT as a freshman, I was scared out of my mind that it would be way
too big for me. But after becoming part of the Camp Texas family I realized that
no matter how big UT or the world for that matter may seem, I will always have a
group of friends I can count on to support me and make everything easier"

"The Camp Texas family has changed my life and made my college experience
unbelievably amazing. I finally found my niche, full of the greatest people I've
ever met. Everyone is so diverse, and yet this one uniting factor ties us
together in a way that other people find difficult to understand" -- Katie
Raymond / Camp Texas Camper 2009; Camp Texas Counselor 2010, 2011
"There are so many good things I could say about Camp Texas. I was about to
become an extremely tiny fish in an outrageously huge pond and looking back on
my transition from high school to college, every fear I had like making new
friends, not knowing how to speak to the professors, missing my friends back
home, and finding my place in a new environment, was extinguished after
attending Camp Texas. You never imagine that three days can feel so long and so
short at the same time. Long enough to make deep lasting friendships and short
enough to make you, strangely enough, miss sleeping in a cabin the minute you
get back. I truly believe that there is no greater or more enjoyable experience
to ease the transition from high school to college than attending Camp Texas.
This program not only shaped my first days at UT but my entire time at the
University and I cannot imagine what my college career would be like without
Camp Texas in my life." -- Chrissy Shackelford / Camp Texas Camper 2008;
Counselor 2009, 2010; Executive Team 2011
