What to Expect

Day 1

Your Camp Texas experience begins at the Etter-Harbin Alumni Center right here on UT’s campus. As soon as you arrive the fun begins as you meet your counselors and fellow campers.

From the Alumni Center you’ll journey to Camp Balcones Springs on the most entertaining 45 minute bus ride you’ve ever been on! But don’t be fooled because this is not your typical ‘camp’ - it's a retreat destination with air-conditioned cabins, great food, and a beautiful landscape.

The first day of Camp Texas is packed full of activities including a camp wide game of capture the flag, team building challenges, UT administrator panels, and a group cheer-off! During free time you can visit the lake, get blobbed, canoe, go down the Texas-sized water slides, play sand volleyball, basketball, or even a game of Taboo. You end the day with your small group eating midnight snacks and after serious bonding you’re free to continue the day’s fun all night!

 Day 2

The second day of camp you’ll meet fellow campers with the same major and living in the same dorm as you. The counselors will offer their guidance about all the best study spots, how to change your major, and a host of other helpful hints for taking advantage of your UT experience.

You’ll then be joined by outstanding UT professors – they entertain, inform, and leave you with outstanding advice on how to conquer the classroom.

After lunch you will compete with your team in the Camp Texas Olympics. No need to be a lettered athlete here – these are no ordinary Olympic games!

Next you’ll show off your theater skills as you compete against other groups in the Act-in-a-Sac challenge. Outrageous props and hilarious scenarios create some of the most memorable camp moments. And don’t forget the Lonestar Casino Luau Party! Where else can you country dance in a hula skirt and play a quick hand of Blackjack all at the same time?

Day 3

Before heading back to Austin you’ll complete closing activities with your group, exchange contact information, and even plan a camper reunion!

Gold medals are passed out to the Olympic champions, camper prizes are awarded, and The Eyes of Texas is sung a final time before boarding the buses.
